5 Party Looks for Under $100

5 Party Looks for Under $100

The holiday season is upon us and there are so many parties and occasions I need to find outfits for. On top of that I have spent a lot of money on gifts for friends and family as well as student loans! So, like many people I have to find a few new outfits that will be kind to my bank account. So I have put together a few outfits for different occasions and budgeted each outfit at $100.

This first outfit I would associate with a more formal holiday party. I personally love this outfit, it is classic and sophisticated but wicked fun with the clutch. This outfit is completed with simple earings and a glossy lip to create this stunning look. The dress and shoes I both found on Forever 21. The bag is from ASOS, earings from H&M and the lip gloss is Milani!

This second outfit I would associate more with a work party. Jumpsuits are flattering on everyone and so many stores have these in different styles! I didn’t want this to look uncoordinated to I stuck with silver accents and accessories and circular shaped. The only color in this outfit would be peeking out from the shoes. I think this looks is tied together with some highlighter on the cheekbones and on the collar bones. The dress, bag, and highlighter are all from ASOS. The shoes from Forever 21 and the earings from Charming Charlies.

This outfit is a show-then-tell dress and more of a going out or New Years. This is also an outfit dupe for Kendall Jenner’s 21st birthday for under $100. I personally think this is so fun and hope people are bold enough to wear this. The dress is from Pretty Little Things the shoes are from Forever 21 and the bag from Romwe.

This party outfit is slightly more casual and I picked for a family christmas party. This is actually very similar to what I am planning to wear for my own family christmas party. I don’t have a lot to say about this outfit because its pretty standard with a mini skirt and sweater but I included some fun features like a silver bag and topping off the look with some sparkle on the eyes. The skirt and sweater are from ASOS. The bag and shoes are from Forever 21. Earings from Charming Charlies and the eyeshadow is Wet and Wild.

The last party look is for everyone who isn’t quite sure what the dress code is, and for the people who don’t want to look too casual or too dressy. This party looks still brings the holiday spirit without looking too dressy or too casual. This one is finished with an iridescent blush for a pop of color to this otherwise pretty monochromatic outfit. The blazer and pants are from H&M. Shoes from Forever 21 the bag from Romwe. The earings are from Madewell and the blush is NYX.

You can still manage to have amazing holiday looks for under $100! Be creative and have fun!

Top 5 Trends for Winter

Top 5 Trends for Winter

Winter is now upon us and this means new seasonal trends. There are so many different looks coming and going that it was hard to pick only 5 trends. And while there are many different trends I could talk about, the five I chose are my current favorites and the ones I think will last the whole winter season. The overall themes I am seeing this winter focus on minimalistic and clean outlook on style.

Fresh Face

This term is thrown out so much and makes me so angry. Because it never has one meaning or look. For me this is focused on minimal makeup but velvet looking skin and rosy cheeks. The winter air can be harsh for our skin so in order to acheive the look for a fresh face is to have moisturized and glowing skin

abstract attractive backdrop background

This fresh face that is being shown on the runways and on social media is centered around having naturally flawless skin and a healthy pink glow on the cheeks. This look has been shown on the Dior, Versace, and of course the Victoria Secrete runway. To achieve a healthy glowing skin for the winter, start with skincare. The winter months are brutal on our skin. The cold weather can cause our skin to dry out and crack as well as to become more sensitive. This in turn will give us the look of very dull and lifeless looking skin when we throw on makeup. Using very hydrating moisturizers and facial toners can bring some life back into the skin. I also rely on balms for the dry areas on my face and lips and let that work into my skin before starting on makeup. Now that the skincare has helped bring life and glow back into the face we don’t always want to ruin that by overloading the skin with foundation and powders. Focus on minimal makeup and glowing cheeks.

Color Me Interested

Street wear looks and most on trend clothing has been keeping with the minimalistic theme even in the color range. There are a lot of navy and cream colors EVERYWHERE. But one of the significant colors or pop of colors that is being shown a lot is the mustard color. This is not a new trend because it was very popular last year but now it is being shown in a wider range such as in shoes, bags, and pants. There are also new editorial look trends that focus on warm yellow eyeshadows. But if there is ever any time to wear dark colors and be a monochromatic asshole now is the time.

Comfort Chic

Screen Shot 2018-12-08 at 10.51.03 PM.pngI don’t know about you but in the winter months I am much more focused on being comfortable and warm. So, as you can imagine I am thrilled that a recent trend is this idea of comfort chic. Sneakers and oversized chunky sweaters are now fashion forward. This is more of a common street style look than runway fashion but none the less it is all over social media and can look very chic. The easiest way to make this go from running the gym to making it fashion forward is more structured and formal pieces. This includes long coats, skirts, and even heels. A Canadian brand I am loving recently Oak and Fort has been showing a lot of this trend. So, go on and wear your college sweatshirt and sneakers!

Bag Belts or Fany Packs

Screen Shot 2018-12-08 at 10.52.15 PM

Never thought we would live to see the day that fanny packs came back into style and are even trendy. But they have gotten a makeover and have been re-branded into “bag belts”, they are still fanny packs. With that said I think they can look extremely fashionable especially with the amount I have seen available from brands! If you want to add this trend into your winter wardrobe I think this trend works best when kept simple. The way I love this trend seen out in streetstyle is to synch the waist with a bag belt when over sized or bulky clothing is worn. This used to be a horrific accessory worn by parents on a vacation and now it’s a fashion forward item seen everywhere. Funny how these things change but fashion is meant to shock us.

Textures and Trenches

Screen Shot 2018-12-08 at 11.00.08 PM

Jackets are obviously a necessity for winter. Though this itself is not a trend the same style and structure jacket has been shown on runways everywhere and in many street styles. The structured long and cropped coats are everywhere! I wanted to include this personally because I think they look amazing, but also go with the whole look of the clean, minimalistic even editorial look that has been seen a lot recently. These are also very versatile pieces because they go with formal looks to very casual looks. Another brand that I love, & Other Stories, has some of the most amazing jackets that go with this theme.

As always there are plenty more trends out there for winter these 5 are just the ones that I love, and I have been seeing a lot of recently. These are also so easy to implement into your winter wardrobe and many of these trends center around items that are already in our closets. The key things these trends follow are having a minimalistic editorial feel.

Minimalistic Closet

Minimalistic Closet

You don’t need to have thousands of dollars and a closet full of clothes to have amazing style. You don’t have to have the the boldest clothing to have style. You don’t even have to read all the fashion magazines and pay attention to the latest fashion trends to have style. What you need is good pieces that pair well with other things indoor closet. Sticking to the basics and have a minimal and clean take on your wardrobe can make it easy to make any look stylish.

Focus on the basics and roll from there. Having classic staple pieces are there to help.

Camel colored coat! We are heading into colder weather having a coat that is stylish and goes with all other clothing in your closet. A classic, clean trench coat is a simple way to make any outfit look for chick and effortless. You don’t have to spend a brick to have this style bc brands like H&M and ASOS have Burberry dupes. Camel coats to me are extremely sophisticated and stylish. While they are usually more expensive they never seem to go out of style

Good jeans are something that are very personal. Finding the right pair and the right brand that fit can take time searching for. For a minimalistic wardrobe having a clean dark wash jean is key. Not only will they go with every thing else in your closet but they can be casual or formal! Now a nice pair of jeans will last you many years but they can be expensive. Brands like Madewell and Lucky Brand, which are my favorite, among others always have sales going on. If you are a college student Madewell has amazing discounts for students all year round.

The little black dress is a life saver and necessity in any woman closet. The little black dress is something that is pulled out of the closet for many different occasions because it can be suitable and appropriate for most occasions and it will always look amazing. There are so many ways to style a little back dress that will make it look new every time.

The main reason to achieve a minimalistic closet is to have clothes that pair with everything else in your wardrobe. Having a neutral or monochromatic color scheme can help to achieve this. A way to make a neutral or monochromatic color scheme work and be more interesting is to ad texture like knits, leathers, silk, cashmere, or tweed.

Every piece in your closet should be chosen because it flatters your body and makes you feel confident.

Payday Wishlist

Who doesn’t love the idea of blowing a whole paycheck on clothes. There is so much excitement and anticipation waiting for a package to arrive in the mail full of new clothes. And there is no better weight than the one we get from carrying bags of new clothes from store to store. This isn’t always realistic but its fun to dream of having the paycheck to spend on whatever clothing we want.

I have put together a few of my favorite pieces on some of my favorite websites and even a few expensive pieces that will stay on my wishlist for many years. These items follow the current trends for the fall and winter as well as items that are staples that any closet needs.

  • & Other Stories

Screen Shot 2018-10-13 at 1.31.52 PM

This brand is fairly new to me but since I have looked to them in search of the perfect signature piece in a wardrobe as well as staple pieces. The price of the clothing is within the moderate to high price range but the clothing quality is well worth the price.

  • Topshop

Screen Shot 2018-10-13 at 2.29.05 PM

This is an online shop that carries different brands as well as their own. I can always count on Topshop to have what every type of clothing or trend I am looking for. There is a very big price range due to there being different brands available on the site. The one problem I do find on Topshop is that while there are so many options for clothing the quality can sometimes be lacking.

  • Madewell

Screen Shot 2018-10-13 at 1.45.33 PM

I continue to look to made well for amazing quality jean products. The quality of the clothing at Madewell is also amazing and has a lot of different styles. They also have some of the best sales or discounts. I would also recommend this brand to people who need new pieces for work or the office.

  • Lucky Brand

Screen Shot 2018-10-13 at 1.54.17 PM

Like Madewell, Lucky Brand has amazing quality jean products as well as leather products. They also have amazing sales where products are about 40% off. The overall Lucky Brand vibe is more western or boho and not really my style but they continue to have quality pieces.

  • Others

These are a few special pieces that I have had my eye on for a long time. These pieces are very on trend and would cost me more than one paycheck! Victoria Beckham’s clothing brand is by far my favorite, everything she puts out is absolutely stunning. Her shoes have this unique shape and were one of the first pieces she came out with. Strathberry is a British company that makes high quality bags, they have unique and stunning bags.

Top 5 Trends for Fall

Top 5 Trends for Fall

With the air starting to cool down and dreaded thought of switching our summer closet to our fall and winter closets we can start to decide how to make our clothing for the cooler months more on trend. These are are a few of my current favorite trends that I am seeing in popular streetwear looks and on the runway. All of these trends are things that everyone can incorporate into their wardrobe.

The Editorial look:

The editorial look is the makeup trends that come from the runway and I think can be flattering and wearable. Almost all runway makeup looks need to be fast enough to apply that makeup artists can quickly have the girls and guys on the runway. These looks also tend to be minimalistic and work for every face shape and skin tone. Having one strong feature like strong eye or lip and keeping everything else almost bare is on trend going into fall or winter.

Screen Shot 2018-09-30 at 4.25.34 PM

A strong winged eye look is coming back into style but it is now being created with eye shadow. This can be seen in the makeup artist Pat McGrath’s makeup look for recent Versace and Burberry shows. McGrath used a shimmer eyeshadow and a pink balm on the lips to create this look.

Another look that always is a staple look for fall and continues to be seen a lot is a very strong and bold lip with a minimal glossy eye lid. This is also a look that looks as if you put more effort into your look then perhaps you did. Rimmel Kate Moss red lipsticks continue to be some of my favorite formulas and are very affordable.

The last look that has been seen a lot recently is all about ditching the eyebrows and focusing on building up the eye lashes and lots of pink blush. This trend is seen again by Pat McGrath’s makeup look for the recent Prada show. This looks are minimalistic but chic and can be easy to incorporate into any everyday makeup look.

Leather and Vinyl:

Screen Shot 2018-09-30 at 9.06.10 PM.png

These typically thought of rocker style materials are making there way back into peoples wardrobes. But believe it or not these materials are now becoming more versatile pieces. They can be paired with a white button down, oversized sweater and loafers for a posh menswear inspired look.

The 70’s are coming back in style and deep mustard orange vinyl pants and boots can add style and color to a fall wardrobe. This look is being shown on the runways as well in many different street style looks. There are so many price ranges we can now find faux or real leather and vinyl clothing So no matter what price range you are shopping in this trend can make its way into your closet.

Nude Notes:

Screen Shot 2018-09-30 at 8.09.19 PM

As previously said the 70’s style is coming back and one way we can see this is the full nudes and brown toned outfits all over the runway. The look of nude tight fitting spandex clothing can be seen all over instagram and many street style looks thanks to the Yeezy brand.

But this look has now merged into looks from brands like Burberry with their trench coats and fitted pants in the same tone. These monotoned looks are not the easiest thing to pull off. But by mixing different textures and materials in the same nude tones this look can be incorporated into your fall wardrobe.

Business or Pleasure:

Whether we like it or not rocking a power suit is now on trend. Now almost every brand has a full suit and in many different styles and colors! Whether or not it is an expansive suit one way to make it look more expensive is spending a few extra bucks to have it properly tailored.

Now not every occasion or job is acceptable to wear a full power suit. But different style dress pants and blazers are on the market so this is one of the easiest trends to add into your wardrobe. Cigaret pants, flared, and ornate dress pants can be paired with graphic t-shirts or blouses and sneakers to heals.

Blazers are coming back into streetwear and office style. A fitted or oversized blazer can make a good pair of jeans look more pulled together and trendy.

Like most on trend pieces, blazers and dress pants can be seen from so many brands in different materials and styles that there is a good range of prices.

Strong Accessories:

Screen Shot 2018-09-30 at 8.13.39 PM.png

Having a few key statement accessories can often be the easiest way to make an outfit more on trend. Lots of ornate gold pieces are a theme for fall fashion. This can be incorporated through belts and jewelry or gold accents on bags and clothing.

Another fairly new trend is the use of silk scarves in an outfit. This is worn either on the head or around the neck. The best thing about any of these is accessories is that by wearing a white t-shirt, jeans, boots and pairing either a gold statement piece or a silk scarf the outfit looks effortlessly trendy.
